About the site.
Transcend Time is a shrine and fanlisting dedicated to the video game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The shrine was opened on August 9, 2011, and the fanlisting was opened on June 8, 2014.
After attending my first ever convention and buying some Zelda merchandise––the Ocarina of Time manga and a Link plush––I was inspired to make another Legend of Zelda shrine. The question though was what? At the time I had a shrine to the Song of Storms (which I don't have anymore), but I wanted something else too. After being rejected for the fanlisting for the game my mind was made up. I was going to shrine the video game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Fanlisting rejections are amazing motivators, let me tell you. Work began and the shrine was opened! Some few years later the fanlisting was removed from the network again and I decided to try applying again, expecting yet another rejection. Much to my surprise this was not the case and I was approved for the fanlisting. To say I was excited about this was probably an understatement. I still can't believe I'm running this fanlisting for one of my favorite video games ever!
The name was challenging to figure out, but also fun to do. I knew I wanted something to do with the word "time", but that by itself is kinda blah. Mostly though it's because I have this thing about using really short names for site titles as I can never get them to look well with the layout. Sometimes it works though, but not with this site. After some thinking I was reminded of an incredibly annoying boss from, World of Warcraft, named Lady Deathwhisper, who just talks way too much. How she would say the word "transcend" though would always just stick out at me, and, well, I liked it and became curious about the meaning. The definition of it was "to pass beyond the limits of". After knowing that, it was love. I thought the name fit perfectly with the theme of the game and so I went with it.
Currently we are on version 3 of the site which features Navi, Link, and Sheik. I realize I already used this image in a layout, but I really like it and it seemed to be the only image that worked for me, plus this one turned out so much cleaner when you compare it to the previous layout. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I made it other than I was in a rush to make something after being approved for the fanlisting. I don't remember anymore, because it was quite a while ago. While I can't say this layout was a walk in the park to put together, I can at least say I'm happy with it. The layout was made by me using Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and then coded by hand using Notepad. The image used in the layout were found at IGN and patterns used were found at Subtle Patterns. Fonts used are called Mademoiselle Camille and Times New Roman. Previous layouts used may be found at my layout archive.
